Regatta Notices

Cancellation
The Saturday forecast is for a Southerly rising early on Saturday. Expectation is any racing would have to be restricted to the Lambton Harbour Sprint Course. And that would only be available for a couple of hours. So Saturday has been ruled out for holding the regatta.

Unfortunately, Christmas commitments mean there will be far too few volunteers available to hold the regatta on Sunday; the reserve day. So the Queens Cup has been cancelled.

Reminder about alternate venue/date
The regatta is calendared for Sat 19th at Korokoro. Please remember the alternate venue (for during Southerlies) is the Lambton Harbour course. And the reserve day is Sunday 20th.

New points system.
Clubs will be contesting a head-to-head points system at this regatta.

Every club gets a tally of how it is doing against each other club on a head-to-head basis throughout the regatta. There is one point up for grabs between a pair of clubs whenever they are in the same race. The point goes to whichever club beats the other (based on relative, not absolute, placings).

At the end of the regatta the head-to-head tallies will be used to determine the outcome between each pair of clubs. The club with the most points wins the pair's head-to-head. A pair of clubs can also draw (if they win an equal number of races against each other throughout the regatta).

This gives every club an overall win:draw:loss record. The club that beat the most other clubs is declared the winner.

notes:
1. A crew that does not complete its race (e.g. DNF, DNS, SCR) is considered to have come last; behind all finishers.
2. Any potential tie in the overall standings is decided by first looking at how the tied clubs did against each other. Then, if their head-to-head pairing was a tie, it is given to the club with the best aggregated head-to-head points. If the aggregated points are equal then a tie is declared.
